Beginners

When considering keeping poultry it's useful to keep in mind their purpose and available space before deciding on which breed to keep. Take time to research your choice and ask questions - use forums, research websites etc. before coming to a decision.

Click on Beginners Guide for further information. You will find answers to many of your questions on our FAQ page. For a more in depth, practical experience we run a regular workshop; Chicken Keeping for Beginners.

Pricing

The price varies between breeds as a reflection of the ease of breeding and the rarity or otherwise of the birds.

Generally:
Day Old Chicks range from about €4.00 - €5.00 (depending on breed) increasing by €1.00 per week as they age, until grown.

Marans, Light Sussex and Rhode Island Red are at the lower end of this scale with the slower, more difficult to breed and rarer birds at the higher end.

Jersey Giants are classified as 'Rare Breeds' by the Irish Poultry Society and as such, the blue variety of these are a little more expensive.

We can supply point of lay hybrid pullets and ducklings all year round and goslings in spring only, please contact us for current prices.

Fertile Eggs

Collection

Eggs when available are best collected but can be dispatched by post or courier, whichever you choose. Birds, of course, must be collected and don't forget to bring a carrier with you when you come.

As this is our hobby and not a business, collection of birds and eggs are by appointment only, we may not otherwise be available. Please remember to bring a box with you when you come to collect.

We do not ask for deposits but we recommend you email us as early as possible to express an interest in our birds and eggs as we WILL run out.

Hatching eggs (when available) must be paid for in full before dispatch.

We accept cash or if you'd prefer to have your eggs delivered, just email us and we will forward a PayPal payment slip.
